The mid-size Avenger like Chrysler Sebring sedan hopes to out-value the Honda Accord, the Nissan Altima, and the Ford Fusion. With $985 plus to its starting price, the 2008 Dodge Avenger comes with more content; its cabin more spacious with a unique meaningful dashboard and a neat cabin Chill Zone for beverages.
This version of the Avenger is also equipped with ‘MyGig’ audio navigation system that allows you to download music and photos to a hard drive. The 2.4-liter four moves the big machine reasonably well and the six-speed automatic is smooth and fast reacting, especially in manual mode.
Eventually, there will be an Avenger SRT, but Dodge hasn't decided yet whether it will use a blown version of the 3.5-liter V-6 or a higher-displacement V-6. It will almost certainly be all-wheel drive, an option that arrives by July 2007 for R/T models. This new Avenger is at its best as an alternative with a uniquely American accent.
