2008 Jeep Liberty Gets Unveiled

April 5, 2007 |17:24 | Jeep | New Launches  By : Arshad Ali Khan

The New Jeep – 2008 Jeep Liberty

The idea of Jeep Liberty replacing the iconic Cherokee was finally dropped because one of its versions, the Nitro, appeared more like the Cherokee than the real jeep model.

Now, the Liberty is turning to its pristine jeep features. The new design and the chassis revisions are meant to bring the Jeep Liberty back to where the Cherokee left off.

The Liberty now manages to move forward with new list of standard equipments as:

1.   Stability control with roll mitigation,
2.   Brake assist,
3.   Rain sensing wipers,
4.   Tire pressure monitoring, and
5.   Side-curtain air bags.
6.   My Gig hard drive and touch screen infotainment system,
7.   Full canvas roof most suited to African Safari.

It is strongly hoped that the new Jeep Liberty will appeal to "young couples and new families, as well as professional, young single men and women when it hits dealers in the third quarter of 2007. As is commonly known that the Liberty appeals more to young women than men, and is even known in some circles as the "party girl Jeep," so cheers to young ladies…/

April 2, 2007 |18:32 | Jeep | New Launches  By : Arshad Ali Khan

The 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Expected to arrive in autumn 2007, the 2008 Grand Cherokee's five-engine lineup now includes the new 4.7-liter V-8, getting twin spark plugs per cylinder and a higher compression ratio. This will boost its horsepower by 24 percent i.e. up to 291 hp. Torque is up by six percent which means going up to 322 pound-feet. The good thing about the updated V-8' engine is that it is now flex-fuel capable, and will have better fuel economy.

The other engines in the line include:

The new 3.0-liter diesel
The 3.7-liter V-6;
The 5.7-liter V-8 HEMI; and
The 6.1-liter HEMI found in the SRT8.

One of the most exciting innovations found on the new Grand Cherokee is the Sirius satellite TV, which will be offering three additional channels for children. Overall channels of programming will include Nickelodeon, the Disney Channel, and the Cartoon Network. Second- and third-row passengers will be able to watch Sirius programming on the go, while front-seat passengers will be able to view them while the vehicle is in Park via a console screen.

Other features on the 2008 Grand Cherokee are:

High-intensity discharge headlamps
A rearview camera
The backup warning system
A MP3 player input jack, and
18-inch chrome wheels.

Outside Features include:

Circular shaped headlamps on the nose.
The stretched grille, and
Lower fog lamps.
Also off-road fans will appreciate the removable lower front spoiler. A new tilt-telescoping wheel, and more metallic trim add a remarkably soft-touch trim to the cabin.

2008 Jeep Patriot - a better replacement for Cherokee

March 6, 2007 |13:11 | Jeep  By : Arshad Ali Khan

Although Cherokee was replaced by the Liberty- a more curved doe-eyed Jeep-on-Prozac in 2001, Patriot now shares its platform with a Jeep's attempt to satisfy an ardent demand for a car with Jeep styling cues.

The Patriot gets a 2.4-liter four that generates 165 lb-ft of torque at a high 4400 rpm, and mated to the five-speed manual standard. More befitting is the optional 2.0-liter four--CVT Only—which is slightly more fuel efficient.. With a manual gearbox, the 2.4 gets the same fuel economy rating as the 2.0-liter. The Patriot Jeep competes with its rivals the Toyota RAV4, the Honda CR-V, looking far more like a tough-guy off-roader. Its flat expanse of hood make you feel as though you're more in a truck than minivan.

And while it isn't particularly fun to drive on-road, the Patriot is the most capable compact SUV in its class when it comes to driving in mud. This Jeep claims good quality ride and competitive dynamics that are miles ahead of the Wrangler and the Cherokee. With side curtain air bags, stability control, and a CD player with MP3 capability, plus the five-speed manual and the 2.4-liter engine, the two-wheel-drive Sport at $14,985 appears pretty cheap too.
