Dodge EV concept

November 14, 2008 |14:03 | Dodge  By : Team X

This doesn’t even have a proper name yet, but it’s one third of the extended-range electric vehicles being touted by Chrysler as “production-intent” models (once there’s some cash in the corporate coffers). Range is said to be 150 to 200 miles.

This two-seater sports car is based on the fiberglass-bodied Lotus Elise. An excellent choice, since the Lotus approach is all about being as light as possible. So the claimed zero-to-60 mph time of under five seconds and top speed in excess of 120 mph sound perfectly feasible from a flyweight car with 268 hp and 480 pound-feet of torque.

A Lotus-based, rear-wheel-drive electric sports car? Haven’t we seen something like this before? Did someone just say Tesla?

2009 Dodge Durango Hybrid

October 28, 2008 |12:32 | Dodge  By : Team X

It takes a long time to lose a bad reputation. The 2009 Dodge Durango Hybrid looks like the kind of big SUV that says you don't give a damn about the environment and are OK with importing the majority of our oil. But looks can be deceiving.

Although the Durango sits up high on its 18-inch wheels, has three rows of seating plus cargo room, and swaggers about with 1990s hedonism, it gets fuel economy around 20 mpg. Some may scoff at this number, but it's a drastically better than straight gas-powered SUVs, especially in the city, and equivalent to plenty of V-6 sedans we've tested. If the Durango Hybrid had come along two or three years ago, it might have countered flagging SUV sales.

2008 Dodge Avenger R/T AWD

September 15, 2008 |12:06 | Dodge  By : Team X

From across the parking lot, the Dodge Avenger looks like a Charger, especially the R/T model. Get a little closer and it becomes evident that this is, in fact, the son of the Charger. Although the lines are similar, which is a good thing, it is noticeably smaller. Nonetheless, it is a handsome piece in an understated way.

Slip behind the wheel and the similarities to its bigger sibling continue -- the R/T tester's two-tone finish starts on the instrument panel and flows through the seats. The white-faced gauges also add to the ambiance, as does the splash of chrome and titanium-like finish on the centre stack.

Why the New Dodge Challenger Will Sell

March 12, 2008 |12:46 | Auto Shows | Dodge | New Launches  By : Team X

How do we know the new Dodge Challenger will sell? Simple: The future muscle car looks great in black. Before a new model is released, we usually only see it in one or two shades of paint. Because of the trouble with photographing a black car at car shows, or in even more controlled settings, car companies rarely show a new car off in black. Dodge made an exception for the Challenger last week.

Now, almost any car looks better in black because it hides flaws in the design, but when black makes the car look mean, tough, even menacing, then it’s the color you have to pick. The Dodge Challenger will hit the streets in 2008, and the production version will debut at next year’s Chicago Auto Show in February. That hasn’t stopped Dodge from showing off the concept version many times. Most recently, it displayed this matte black version tuned by Mopar as a pseudo racecar in Detroit. We bugged Chrysler’s PR department to get us some photos, and they responded with the ones below. Now, tell us this thing doesn’t look great in black?

Sirius Putting New Digital TV programming System on Minivans

April 7, 2007 |12:24 | Accessories | Dodge  By : Arshad Ali Khan

The 2008 Dodge minivans will be the first vehicles to carry the new digital-television programming from satellite radio provider Sirius, Said Chrysler. Later the service will be carried to 2008 model year vehicles like the Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger and Magnum, the Jeep Commander and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The channels to be offered initially are - Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and the Cartoon Network. And the hardware for the system will combined the state of the art pieces already announced for the minivans, including Chrysler's MyGIG media storage system and a dual-DVD entertainment system that lets backseat passengers view two different programs. When the vehicle is in Park, Sirius TV programming will also be available on the front-seat vehicle screen. Chrysler described the hardware to have an in-vehicle satellite receiver and two small roof-mounted antennas. The satellite-TV installations, configured currently, incorporate a large single assembly on the vehicle's roof. Most significantly, the service will be cheaper than existing satellite-TV installations, that run with approximately  $2000, whereas the Sirius system will only cost $470, and which does not include the cost of the entertainment system, with a $7 charge for programming on top of the Sirius radio monthly charge of $12.95 – from a report currently issued in the press release.

Dodge Sprinter 2007

March 15, 2007 |17:01 | Dodge  By : Arshad Ali Khan

Dodge has launched its new commercial van, the sprinter for 2007 in the footsteps of European Mercedes-badged vehicles last year. The new Sprinter continues to build on the strengths of the previous model. The focus of the redesigned Sprinter is on size: bigger is better in the world of commercial vans. Dodge is therefore calling the new Sprinter "super-sized" for a good reason. It is offered in two wheelbases, three roof heights, and a variety of body styles and cab configurations.

The Sprinter comes with an astounding array of comfort, convenience, and safety equipment-far more than could possibly be listed here, but some features are:

1. A stability control program that senses load weight and center of gravity and  adjusts accordingly
2. Bi-xenon headlamps,
3. Automatic headlights and wipers
4. Heated front and rear windshields
5. CD changer stereo systems
6. A hands-free telephone controlled through the steering wheel

Basically, this thing is loaded. For people who drive these vans for a living, the upgrades and improvements should make their lives that much more pleasant
