The Cadillac that ain't your father's may be just be two-wheeled. Word of a new Cadillac motorcycle sporting gee whiz ethanol hybrid technology has just surfaced in D Business. The Caddy that leans will be built by V20 Consulting in New York and shown off at the next LA Auto Show. The irony of an outside company building a technology demostrator isn't lost on us, but it isn't the first time the General has collaborated with someone on a motorcycle. Just a couple hundred feet from the Detroit offices lives the first Caddy chopper, built by and currently for sale at Great American Chopper in Clawson, MI.

Knowing it was there, we took a quick jaunt to their shop so you can see what may inform the next motorcycle. According to the folks who work there, reports of Caddy boss Jim Trailer actually buying this bike are greatly exaggerated, so if you want to take a look for yourself and live in the Detroit area, it'll be there for all to see. The Enclave is the flagship leading the way in Buick's rebirth; style and luxury are the hallmarks defining this revival. Standing-out in such a non-Buick-like way is the Enclave's dramatic, chrome waterfall grille and its optional 19-inch chrome wheels. Paying respect to powerful Buicks of yesteryear are the, albeit fake, exhaust ports incorporated into both sides of the Enclave's sculpted hood.Traditional Buick buyers may find the curvaceous lines of the Enclave's body somewhat uncharacteristic of Buick. Stylistically, the Enclave is quite a departure from the more traditionally styled, and soon to be defunct, Buick Rainier. The Enclave's swooping belt line may impart "sportiness," but it also diminishes the vehicle's rear-quarter side glass, impeding rearward visibility. My tester was equipped with a navigation system that included a backup camera, useful for overcoming the restrictive sight lines.

In North America Buick sells 72 percent of its cars through dealerships shared with Pontiac and GMC. GM hopes to have all those dealers selling all three brands someday soon, so the last thing Buick needs is a rebadged GMC.

The first thing it needs is something with the style and elegance of the new Enclave to reestablish itself as an aspirational marque for buyers (well) under 65.

The Enclave is under its voluptuous skin. GM's Lambda platform provides seven or eight seats with a minivan-size third row, a 275-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6, six-speed automatic transmission, and front or intelligent all-wheel drive in the GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook.

The 2008 LaCrosse emphasizes more on comfort and refinement rather than mere speed. Buick's foray into the world of speed and special badges was mainly the task of GM's Performance Division. While John Heinricy developed both the LaCrosse Super and Lucerne Super, the former excels in picking interest.
Buick's Super cars are focused more on comfort and capability than pure speed, and therefore the laptimes-at-all-costs modifications have been kept to a minimum on the LaCrosse.

Some of the improved features in LaCrosse  include:

• Revised steering with modified steering rack, designed to reduce friction.
  
• Improved wheel damping via Bilstein shocks.
  
• Upgraded trim.
  
• Up-rated braking components aimed at providing more over-the-road speed.
  
• Woven leather seating surfaces.
  
• Dual exhausts.
  
• Dash woodgrain and shift lever come along for the ride.
